Too much inventory.
Still running out.

Highline Systems builds the analytics and decision support that fixes that — for manufacturers and industrial operations, from the data you already have.

One year of stock, planned two ways

Replenishment policy
Stock level across one simulated year under two replenishment policies Two lines on the same axes. The judgement-set policy falls to zero in 3 separate weeks while holding an average of 693 units. The measured policy never reaches zero and holds an average of 503 units. The figures beneath the chart give the same values as text. 040080012001600 JanMarMayJulSepNov
Weeks out of stock
3 on the judgement-set policy, 0 on the measured policy
Average units held
693 on the judgement-set policy, 503 on the measured policy
Peak units held
1513 on the judgement-set policy, 843 on the measured policy
Illustrative simulation, not a client result. One demand history, one set of supplier lead times, two replenishment rules. The first covers the quoted 4-week lead time and orders in bulk. The second uses the measured lead time (4.6 weeks, standard deviation 1.2) and the observed spread in demand, at a 95% service level. More stock is not the same as the right stock.

What we do

  • Put the right inventory in the right place. Set smarter stock targets, identify excess and shortages, and rebalance inventory to protect service while reducing working capital.

  • Anticipate demand and plan with greater confidence. Turn demand patterns into actionable forecasts and focus planners on the products and locations that need attention.

  • Turn complexity into clear actions. Surface risks early, prioritise replenishment and production decisions, and provide more reliable customer delivery commitments.

  • Data engineering

Build a consistent, reliable foundation for planning. Standardise data across systems, automate updates, and add quality checks so teams work from timely information and shared business definitions.

  • Know where products and materials come from and how they move through your supply chain. Connect sourcing, supplier and movement information to support transparency, compliance, and faster responses to disruptions.

How it works

The same four steps on every engagement. Each one produces something you keep, whether or not you continue.

  1. Assess

A fixed-scope look at what data exists and which decision is worth improving first.

  2. Structure

Make the inputs consistent and automated, to the depth that decision needs. No further.

  3. Model

Build the calculation that answers the question, tested against a baseline and documented.

  4. Embed

Put it where the work happens, train the people who will use it, and hand over the code.

Who it is for

  • Manufacturing

Raw material inventory, production planning, lead-time variability, and the gaps an MRP leaves behind when the master data underneath it is unreliable.

  • Industrial operations

Spare parts and MRO inventory, long and variable lead times, project-based demand that defeats standard forecasting, and supplier concentration risk.

Common questions

Do we need a data warehouse before you can help?

No. Most of our clients start with spreadsheets, an ERP export and some records kept on paper. That is a normal starting point. We build only as much data foundation as the decision you want to make actually requires.

What is a data readiness assessment?

A free 30-minute conversation about what data you hold, what shape it is in, and what it could support today. You do not need to prepare anything. It ends with a straight answer about whether there is a worthwhile project here, including when the answer is no.

How much does a project cost?

Every engagement is quoted as a fixed price against an agreed scope, before any work begins. We do not bill open-ended hourly engagements, and the first 30-minute conversation is free. See our engagement models.

Are you selling us AI?

Only where it is the best tool, and we will show you the comparison. On short histories and intermittent demand, classical statistical methods often beat machine learning and are far easier to explain. We test both against a naive baseline and recommend whichever actually performs.

Who owns the models and the data?

You do. We hand over the code, the documentation and the assumptions, and the infrastructure sits under your own accounts. Nothing depends on us staying involved.

Do you work outside Calgary and Toronto?

Yes. We have offices in Calgary and Toronto and work with clients across Canada. Everything we do runs remotely — from the first conversation to handover — so where you are makes no difference to how we work.

Find out what your data can already tell you

A free 30-minute data readiness assessment. We look at what you have, tell you what it can support today, and name the first thing worth building. No preparation needed.
