Accessibility statement

We want everyone to be able to use this site, including people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or voice control.

Our conformance target

Highline Systems aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA across every page of this website, in both light and dark colour modes.

This target meets or exceeds the requirements most relevant to our visitors, including the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) information and communications standards, the standards made under the Accessible Canada Act, and the expectations applied to public-facing websites under the Americans with Disabilities Act for visitors in the United States.

Current status: this site conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA, with the known limitations listed below.

How we tested

Every page template was tested in both colour modes.

  • Automated testing with axe-core across every page template, in light and dark mode, with zero critical or serious issues outstanding.
  • Lighthouse accessibility audits on every page template in both modes.
  • A manual keyboard pass: tab order, visible focus, no keyboard traps, skip link, and every control operable without a mouse.
  • A screen-reader exposure audit across every page template in both colour modes, checking that every control, image, form field, landmark and live region resolves the name, role and state a screen reader needs. Zero defects outstanding.
  • A screen-reader listening pass covering the home page, the enquiry questionnaire, the data figures and the FAQ.
  • Reflow and zoom testing at 200% zoom and at a 320 CSS pixel viewport width, with no loss of content or horizontal scrolling.
  • Colour contrast verified for every token pairing in both modes, against the 4.5:1 body text and 3:1 non-text thresholds.
  • Text-spacing override testing, confirming no content is clipped or overlapped.

Known limitations

We would rather name these than claim they do not exist.

  • Third-party scheduling embed. Our contact page offers a Calendly booking calendar. It loads only if you choose to open it, and a plain link to Calendly's own page sits beside it. We do not control Calendly's code and cannot guarantee its accessibility. If it presents a barrier, email us and we will book the time for you — that route is always available and is not a lesser option.
  • Downloadable documents. Any PDF or spreadsheet we publish is checked for tagging and reading order, but older documents supplied by third parties may not meet the same standard. Ask us and we will supply an accessible alternative.
  • Diagrams. Every diagram on this site carries a text alternative, and the data behind each one is also given in text or in a table. If any diagram is unclear, tell us and we will improve it.
  • Screen-reader coverage. We have verified programmatically that every element gives a screen reader the name, role and state it needs, and we have listened to the main journeys through a screen reader. We have not listened to every page of the site in every reader. If something reads badly for you, that is a defect and we will treat it as one — please tell us.

Report a barrier

If you encounter anything on this site you cannot use, please tell us. We treat accessibility reports as defects, not as feedback.

We respond to accessibility reports within two business days, and we will tell you what we intend to do and when. If a fix will take longer, we will offer you the information or service another way in the meantime.

Please include the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using. That makes a fix much faster.

Technical specifications

This site relies on HTML, CSS, SVG and a small amount of JavaScript. It is built to work without JavaScript: navigation, content and the contact form all function with scripting disabled, though the theme toggle and client-side form validation require it.

The site is tested on current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop and mobile, with NVDA and VoiceOver.
